December Gifts Watch

In 1927, Wright designed a series of covers based on seasonal themes for Liberty magazine. When submitted, they were judged to be too avant-garde but would become the basis for later interpretations executed in diverse media. Each design is an example of Wright's practice using the tools of his trade. This design on this watch is a detail from the drawing "December Gifts," depicting festive holiday gifts with ribbon and bows abstracted to striking geometric shapes.
