At the age of 27 and in the early stages of his architectural career, Frank Lloyd Wright worked with two of his clients to publish The House Beautiful. Wright heard the essay by William C. Gannet in a sermon and was inspired and charmed by the text about the importance of simplicity and craftsmanship in the home. The text in this republished version was framed by Wright’s original designs inspired by ironwork and Middle Eastern tapestries that Wright admired. Only 90 original copies of the book were published and given mostly to friends and colleagues.
