Atrium Spirit Dance Pendant

Atrium Collection at Taliesin West

Arizona artist Jason Catlin has his feet in two different worlds. The world of 3D scanning and the ancient world of lost-wax casting. The Atrium Collection, Catlin's second artist collaboration with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, borrows designs and moments from the Atrium at Taliesin West, which was constructed as part of an expansion of the residence in 1961. Catlin left each piece polished in this collection to give them a brighter feel than in his first collection, Cabaret, which is much more rugged in appearance. "I wanted the light to play with these designs in the same way it plays in the Atrium." The negative space in each piece allows for light to pass through, much like how it would in the glass inlays of the Atrium.

Catlin also drew inspiration from Olgivanna Wright, Wright's wife, and her passion for dance. "I see a parallel between a human moving their body to express a light from within and sunlight passing through a still body of concrete due only to the rhythm of the universe. I feel a connection there, and I hope my work celebrates that."

All pieces are handcrafted by Jason Catlin in .925 Sterling Silver. Dimensions: 1.5" x 1"
