Frederick C. Robie House, 1908, Chicago, IL. The distinctive structure of the Robie House, commissioned by a local engineer, is renowned as a forerunner of modernism in architecture. The American prairie landscape is mirrored in this architectural style by low horizontal design, open interior spaces, and deep cantilevered eaves, made possible by long spans of structural steel framing. The long horizontal form is punctuated by over 170 art glass windows, which enhance its openness. Their color and delicate geometric diamond and chevron shapes are abstractions of the surrounding foliage.
About the Frank Lloyd Wright Collection
Classic Rug Collection was selected by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to design and market several series of rugs based on Wright’s designs. The company was chosen in part based on my Klimt Collection, which illustrates beautifully how I can work with an artist’s designs to interpret them and translate them into rugs. The most important part of the collection is the Signature Series, a group of hand-knotted and hand-tufted rugs made at the highest quality level. The initial collection has five rugs and two runners.
