DS Kentuck Knob B Clerestory Panel

Designed on a hexagonal module, Kentuck Knob is a small, one story Usonian house located in the Laurel Highlands of western Pennsylvania. Usonian is a term that Frank Lloyd Wright coined to describe something that was made for the people of the United States. He created this style of affordable home for the middle class in the era of the Great Depression. Both dramatic and serene, the house, situated just below the crest of the hill, appears almost part of the mountain itself and stands 2,050 feet above sea level. Kentuck Knob is designed on the hexagonal grid.  Wright thought open angles to more flexible than harsh, right angles in terms of flow and movement, thus more suitable to the way life was meant to be lived in the house. A great believer in the intrinsic beauty of natural materials, Wright combines the native fieldstone with tidewater red cypress to create a chorus of color and texture that replicates the surrounding landscape. The design of this product was adapted from the perforated boards in the house which infuse the house with individuality, allow in light, and create interesting shadows and light patterns in the interior of the house which change as the sun moves across the sky without the expense of art glass.

Our perforated boards are made with cherry veneered MDF. This exciting addition to your home adds just the right amount of detail to energize your living space. 30" long x 7" tall x 1/2" thick. Includes two sawtooth hangers for installation. All AlaModerna products are made in the USA.
