DS Robie Window 51 Art Glass
Frank Lloyd Wright designed his Prairie style masterpiece, the Frederick C. Robie House, Chicago, Illinois, in 1908 from his Oak Park studio. This distinctive structure, which was commissioned by a local engineer, is renowned as a forerunner of modernism in architecture. The home, recognized by its deep cantilevered roof and no obvious door on its street facade, is punctuated by over 170 art glass windows which enhance its openness. Their color and delicate geometric diamond and chevron shapes are abstractions of the surrounding foliage.
This art glass is based on the design of a casement window identified as No. 51. The Robie House is a National Historic Landmark and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
